Desiccant Masterbatches

Desiccant masterbatchescan counter problems which develop during the processing of plastics due to the presence of moisture. Moisture can be present in raw materials such as hygroscopic polymers, fillers and pigments. Reclaim and recycled polymer can also have a high moisture content. When processing polymer with a high moisture content the polymer can become porous and show voids in moulded articles or extruded sheet. In film applications the high moisture content can lead to lensing and film bubble breakage.

Advantages of Desiccant Masterbatches

  • Increase the level of filler addition
  • Increase strength
  • Increases the level of retirement polymer addition
  • Allows automatic dosing
  • The pellet does not adhere to the walls of the hopper, and therefore automatic feeders can be used.

What is Anti Moisture Powder?

Desiccant Masterbatch chemically binds moisture during the process and allows higher levels of retirement polymers and loads to use. These masterbatches are used in the removal of moisture in virgin and recycled LD, LLDPE, PP, HM, etcetera. These are mainly used in tubes, molding and film blowing. CaO desiccant masterbatches help reduce:

  • Eyes of fish
  • Porosity
  • Windows / lenses in movies;
  • Silver stripe in molding.

Why use Desiccant Masterbatches?

Desiccant Masterbatches can counteract the problems that develop during the processing of plastics due to the presence of moisture and prevent the adsorption of moisture during transport. Moisture may be present in raw materials such as hygroscopic polymers, fillers and pigments. Reprocessing the polymer can have high moisture content. During the processing of polymers with high moisture content the polymer can be porous and show empty / low tensile strength the extrusion / blow sheet or final articles. In film applications the high moisture content can lead to the breakage of film bubbles. Hence Desiccant Masterbatches has lots of benefits in different industry.

Benefits of using Desiccant Masterbatch

  • Cleaning in production area. Unlike powder pigments, the masterbatch does not stain or have volatility, which means that the work is done in a clean and unpolluted environment.
  • Great uniformity due to an optimal dispersion of the pigment. The pigment particles have a strong tendency to regroup and form agglomerates of great cohesion, difficult to separate with the machines used in the final transformation so it is usual that when powdered pigments are used, spots or bursts of color appear.
  • Easy handling and heavy. The fact that the masterbatch is presented in the form of pellets makes it easier to handle and simplify the weighing process. Weighing pellets is much easier and cleaner than weighing dust or liquids.

Dessiccant Masterbatch & Anti-moisture additives

Dessiccant Masterbatch & Anti-moisture additives can counter moisture related problems. It can dramatically absorb moisture from plastic during extrusion process.

Desiccant masterbatch is produced by inorganic powder, resin and other auxiliary. Itis an innovative drying agent, water absorber used in eliminating moisture in virgin and recycled LDPE, HDPE and PP etc. Mainly used in injection molding, film line, sheets etc. Desiccant Masterbatch is used to add and simply mix with materials before the plastic molding processing, which make us carry out molding processing without the drying process, so it is user-friendly, and can improve the production efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
